Why we run relaxed performances

Once a month, every show has a relaxed performance. What changes, and why we think every theatre should.

A red velvet curtain half open with the glowing screen behind it and a few empty wooden seats in the dark

Once a month, every show in the programme has a relaxed performance.

What changes

The lights stay a little up and the sound a little down. Nobody minds talking, moving or leaving and coming back. The quiet room by the café is open throughout.

Who it’s for

Anyone who finds a dark, quiet theatre hard: autistic children and adults, people with dementia, parents with babies, or anyone having a difficult day.

What doesn’t change

The show itself. Same puppets, same story, same puppeteers.
